The Wine

Fotinos Pinot Noir is crafted with care by the George Fotinos family. Fotinos Vineyard, located in the heart of the Carneros District of Napa Valley, has produced Pinot Noir grapes since 1969. The growing methods were handed down to George by his father, Christos. The grapes are grown using sustainable agricultural practices to preserve the integrity of the land.

We currently have two vintages available for purchase: the 2006 Pinot Noir, and a limited quantity of the 2005 Pinot Noir. The 2004 and 2003 vintages are sold out.

Our 2005 vintage was awarded a 2009 gold medal from the San Francisco Wine Competition in the category of Pinot Noirs $35 and over. The Chronicle judging is the world's largest competition of American wines. For more information, see our press release (PDF).

The wine has been described as "distinctively big with aromas of raspberries, ripe cherries, baking spices and violets. A silky palate of concentrated ripe fruit flavors integrated with toasty oak, finishing with hints of leather and earth. Ruby-red, pomegranate color. Good astringency with long finish."

The image on the label depicts Artemis, the twin sister of Apollo. She is the Greek goddess of the forests and the moon and represents the beauty of nature. The coin dates back to 480 B.C.
